Explore the Roof of Norway
- visit the Jotunheimen National Park
Jotunheimen National Park is characterized by high mountains, glaciers and deep lakes. There are more than 200 mountain peaks rising above 2000 m (6560 ft) in Jotunheimen, and these are the highest mountains in Norway.

Most of the alpine landscape is found here in the western part of the Jotunheimen National Park. If you drive the scenic national tourist route over the Sognefjell Mountains between Skjolden and Lom, you will see Store Skagastølstind and many other impressive peaks at close range.

Jotunheimen is one of Norway’s most popular hiking areas, and the amazing Hurrungane range, which includes the Store Skagastølstind peak, is a paradise for mountaineers.

In the heart of Norway

The Sognefjord stretches all the way in to the heart of Norway, but the distance to Bergen is just 153 nautical miles (equivalent to one overnight voyage).
